BIO

Cat Eide, also known by her art name, Sabriel, is an artist in the Pacific Northwest specializing in illustration and concept art.

She has been drawing for over twenty years and started drawing daily by age four.  By age twelve, she had won several prestigious national awards, and continued to win highly competitive awards.

She was self-taught until high school when she was accepted into the advanced placement art program at age fourteen, two years before most students are considered.

It was there that she began seriously pursuing painting in several mediums, including acrylic and oil.

At age seventeen she began to experiment with digital painting in Photoshop and quickly mastered the program, which she continued to use regularly in college, where she also honed her skills with clay and multi-media sculpture.

The inspirations from her work span from the ancient world and  Renaissance masters, all the way to artists like Salvador Dali and contemporary artists like Leo and Diane Dillon. She is inspired not only by visual art but by stories, film, pop culture, prehistoric history, myth, fantasy, science fiction, and nature.

Today, she continues to work both in digital and physical mediums, focusing on works that allow her to explore her love of conceptual work, portraits, and environments. Her work is known for its exceptional use of light, color, and detail, and can range anywhere from highly stylized, to impressionistic, to surrealism, and to hyperrealism.
